{"id":1498,"date":"2019-09-22T04:23:16","date_gmt":"2019-09-22T04:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vdh.qpi.temporary.site\/website_74e49bd5\/?p=1498"},"modified":"2019-09-22T04:23:16","modified_gmt":"2019-09-22T04:23:16","slug":"ccp-celebrates-50-years-of-radiance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/palawanderer.net\/?p=1498","title":{"rendered":"CCP Celebrates 50 Years of Radiance!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IN celebration of its 50th anniversary that begins this month of September, the Cultural Center of the Philippines renews its partnership with the legendary craftsmen of the City of San Fernando, Pampanga for a showcase of lights billed <u>Sinag: A Festival of Radiance<\/u>, it was launch last\u00a0 September 19, 7pm at the CCP Front Lawn at the CCP Complex in Pasay City.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1502 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/palawanderer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SinagFestivalOfLights-2019Aug13-Orly-127-1024x745.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"506\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Every evening, until January 5, 2020, lanterns will glimmer in a light and sound spectacle that will delight passersby, tourists and visitors to the Complex.\u00a0 The annual lighting of the CCP facade, which started several years back, has become a beloved tradition which the community looks forward to each year.<\/p>\n<p>The unique partnership of the CCP with the City of San Fernando (celebrated the world over for the beauty and grandeur of its giant lanterns) is further enhanced by the art installation of award-winning multimedia artist Abdulmari \u201cToym\u201d Imao, Jr. and the Kapampangan craftsmen from the renowned family of lanternmakers, now led by 5th generation artisan, Arvin Quiwa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1499 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/palawanderer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SinagFestivalOfLights-2019Aug13-Orly-1-1024x763.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"519\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Music for <u>Sinag: A Festival of Radiance<\/u> was specially commissioned by the CCP.\u00a0 National Artist for Literature Bienvenido Lumbera wrote the lyrics of \u201cPagdiwang sa Ginintuang Pagsilang\u201d with music and orchestration by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.<\/p>\n<p>Imao\u2019s installation, which will be placed at the CCP Front Lawn, will consist of a 20-feet lantern-type sundial representing the role of arts and culture in society over time, as well as a reiteration of the CCP\u2019s pursuit of \u201ctruth, goodness and beauty\u201d in stylized Baybayin over the clouds on the facade.\u00a0 It will combine traditional arts with the magic of modern technology interacting with promenaders, offering pure enjoyment of the nightly spectacle.<\/p>\n<p><u><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1500 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/palawanderer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/SinagFestivalOfLights-2019Aug13-Orly-62-1024x739.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"696\" height=\"502\" \/><\/u><u>Sinag: A Festival of Radiance<\/u> showcases the CCP\u2019s fifty years of excellence in the field of performing, literary, visual and multi media arts and its continuing partnership with its regional network.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, please call the CCP through Ms. Renee Manay at tel. no. 832-1125 local 1424.
