Last July 4, 2026, JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao successfully conducted its Bags of Hope Project at Bubugtong Elementary School in Sitio Bubugtong, Purok Pag-asa, Barangay Napsan, Puerto Princesa City. Through the project, 100 students received school bags filled with essential school supplies, along with food packs, refreshments, games, and prizes to help them begin the school year with confidence and joy.

The project was spearheaded by Project Chairperson Waheed Gergis under the leadership of KIAO’S 2026 Local Organization President Ada Tagorda, with the shared vision of ensuring that every child, regardless of how far they live from the city, has the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive. Bubugtong Elementary School serves a community of over 205 families, with approximately 90% of its learners belonging to the Tagbanua Indigenous community.

Despite its remote location, the school’s dedicated teachers continue to provide quality education and inspire their students every day. More than simply distributing school supplies, Bags of Hope was about reminding every child that they are seen, valued, and supported. The smiles, excitement, and gratitude shared throughout the day reflected the power of a community coming together for a common purpose.

A major milestone of the event was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the future construction of the Bubugtong Elementary School Library together with the Rotary Club the Hague Pres. Redge Rafols. This long-term initiative will provide generations of learners with greater access to books, knowledge, and opportunities. This project would not have been possible without the generosity of our partners, sponsors, and volunteers. Their financial support, in-kind donations, transportation assistance, food sponsorships, and countless hours of service transformed a simple idea into a meaningful experience for 100 children.

JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao extends its heartfelt gratitude to all who supported this initiative, especially our community partners, donors, and members whose kindness made Bags of Hope a success. As we continue to create meaningful projects for underserved communities, we invite businesses, organizations, and individuals to partner with us. Whether through sponsorships, in-kind donations, or volunteerism, your support can help us reach more children and build brighter futures together. Together, we don’t just give. We create opportunities, inspire hope, and change lives.
