THE Office of Congressman Edward Hagedorn, Palawan’s third district representative in the House of Congress, recently organize a recycling art contest intended to promote the protection of our environment, and to discover local talents in the fields of arts.

Around 57 aspiring and professional artists from Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan, join the first ever “Kaibigan Cong Kalikasan Basura Art Contest, making notable art pieces using thrash materials, winning entries will be showcase for an exhibit at the Palawan Heritage Center in the Capitol Complex.

The contest has 2 category, the adult and the youth, winners are the following, for Adult Category its “Siodad Cong Makalikasan” by Jeffrey Pe, he recive a brand new motorcycle, second place goes to Michael John Pablico for his “Binhi”, and third spot goes to Roderick Pelenia for his obra “Elemento”.

For youth category, Charissagwyn Almocera for her”My Home, My Responsibility” is the grand winner, she takes home P20,000 cash and a scholarship grant from Fullbright College. Jade Samyel Daquilanea fo his “Pawikan” artwork is the second placer, and Stephen Gilard Dela Cruz for his “Underground River” art piece is the third prize winner.

On his speech, Hagedorn is all praises to all the participants and it’s a good thing he was not a judge, because all of the entries are all great and beautiful.

One of the judge is Asiano Art shop owner Jojo Orcullo, during the awarding program he said that one of the qualities they look is the durability of the art piece, and the materials use related to the theme.
