The 2023 edition of its PHITEX focused on tourism sustainability in the era of the Internet of Things.

Philippine government-owned and controlled corporation Tourism Promotions Board was recognised in this year’s GovMedia Conference & Awards 2024 as the recipient of the Philippines Public Sector Initiative of the Year – Tourism for its successful edition of the Philippine Travel Exchange (PHITEX) 2023.

The Tourism Promotions Board invited six speakers who shared and discussed their insights on relevant and vital topics relative to the PHITEX theme.

Amongst the topics that were discussed are the role of technology and sustainable travel in the era of IoT; embracing digital transformation in the tourism and hospitality sector, relevance of data privacy in the era of IoT; generational insights on holiday destination choices and selection influence; impact of sustainability options in the hospitality sector, and; exploring gender dynamics in tourism.

PHITEX 2023 also featured a pre-event tour, which provided a great introduction of the history, heritage, and culture of the Philippines to invited foreign buyers. It featured a Cebu countryside tour and a city tour with property inspection. Whilst, the post-event tour focused thematically on each module, offering a wide array of activities targeting every interest of the foreign buyers for their respective markets.

The GovMedia Conference & Awards is a prestigious event that spotlights outstanding government projects and initiatives in Asia that contribute to the well-being of the people in the region.
